SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Western Michigan finished the first two rounds at the Terrier Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford at The Carolina Country Club on Monday.
WMU shot a 310 in the opening round and a 317 in the second, for a 36-hole total of 617 (+51). The Broncos sit just six strokes outside the top five in the field.
Individually, junior Megha Vallabhaneni was WMU's top finisher. Vallabhaneni opened with a 73 and then closed out the day with a 78 for a 151 (+7) and tied in seventh place heading into Tuesday's final round. She finished with four birdies on the day and 25 pars.
Sophomore Bella Brooks combined to shoot a 158 (+22), while junior Jenna Hayes is just two strokes back from her with a 160. Freshmen Laura Lupinek and Saanvi Venkatesh rounded out WMU's top five with scores of 162 and 164.
The Broncos wrap up the tournament and the Fall Season on Tuesday, beginning at 8:45 a.m.
