#13 Men’s Soccer Hosts Green Bay For NCAA Tournament Rematch

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The TopDrawerSoccer #13 Western Michigan men's soccer team returns to WMU Soccer Complex on Tuesday, October 15, versus Green Bay. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM and the game will be streamed on Bronco All-Access.

Last Time Out / WMU's Unbeaten Streak

On Saturday, October 12, the Brown and Gold defeated Northern Illinois University on the road 2-1 behind goals from sophomore defender Braxton Arpachinda and junior midfielder Ronan Wilcox. With the victory, the men's soccer team secured their 24th consecutive game in which they limited opponents to one goal or fewer and extended their unbeaten streak to 34. As a result of WMU's long-term success in the back line, the Brown and Gold claim the third-highest goal differential in the entire NCAA.

Wilcox and the Broncos continued to expand their offensive arsenal during the 2024 campaign: With the midfielder's strike, at least 12 members of the men's soccer team have scored in a single season for the first time since 2019.

Owen Smith's Dominance

Smith continues to pace the NCAA with 10 assists. As of Thursday, October 10, no other player in the entire nation had accumulated 10 assists on the season outside of Smith. Entering Tuesday's action, the midfielder is tied for the third most assists produced by a Bronco in a single season.

Scouting Green Bay

The Phoenix enter Tuesday's contest with a 9-3-1 record after boasting nine wins, one tie, and one loss after beginning the season 0-2. Green Bay is currently on a four-game unbeaten streak after wins over Cleveland State, Wright State, St.Thomas, and a tie with Northern Kentucky last time out on Saturday, October 12.

In 13 appearances (11 starts) senior forward Andrew Paolucci paces Green Bay with 12 points (four goals and four assists). Over his last three games, Paolucci, ramped up his production and has either scored or assisted in two of his previous three games.

Green Bay's leading scorer, junior forward Chris Album, leads the Phoenix behind five goals in nine appearances (nine starts). Album has averaged just shy of one goal per game over his last five contests.

Series History

Entering Tuesday's match, the Brown and Gold boast a six-game win streak over the Phoenix dating back to 2010.
