KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan University men's soccer team starts its seven game spring season this weekend.
To prepare for the next year of men's soccer the Broncos will play seven games over the course of seven weeks with their spring roster. WMU will host the majority of its spring schedule at the WMU Soccer Field, but will begin on the road not too far from home. On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Brown and Gold will head to the Motor City to play Detroit City FC. This will be the second straight season that Western Michigan has seen the USL Championship team in spring action.
The Broncos first home game of the spring is set for Saturday, March 21 with the Marquette Golden Eagles visiting the Farm for a 1 p.m. matchup. The following weekend WMU will host a team from the Great White North as they welcome Western Ontario for a 1 p.m. kick on Sunday, March 29.
The Brown and Gold play their second and final road game of the spring to begin the month of April. Western Michigan will play the Northwestern Wildcats at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in a nighttime showdown on Friday, April 3. The Broncos close out their spring season with three straight games at home against two in-state opponents and another from only two hours away.
WMU's final Division I opponent of the spring season will be the Detroit Mercy Titans. The Brown and Gold host one of their in-state rivals on Saturday, April 11 for a noon kickoff. The other Michigan-based team Western Michigan will see in April is Division II Davenport University. The Broncos and Panthers are set to square off on Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m.Â
The last game of the spring season for WMU is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 against NAIA Grace College. Kickoff for the final game of the spring at the Farm over the Lancers is set for 1 p.m.Â
