Bronco men’s soccer finalizes 2026 roster with two additions

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University men's soccer program and Head Coach Chad Wiseman have announced the addition of two players to its 2026 roster.

The Broncos welcome forward Joseph Min, and defender Dan McHale to Kalamazoo for the 2026 season. The pair of new additions have previous Division I experience across the Big East and Sun Belt conferences. "The additions of Joe and Dan complete our 2026 Bronco roster," Wiseman says of the two transfers.

"My staff and I have worked tirelessly to bring the right players to Kalamazoo—student-athletes we believe will help us compete for another championship and earn a berth to our fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament. Our players, coaches, and extended staff are excited and eager for the start of the 2026 season. We can't wait to get to work and represent Bronco soccer with pride!" Western Michigan will begin its season with the annual Brown vs. Gold exhibition match at WMU Soccer Field on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Joseph Min | F | 5-9 | Sr. | Grand Rapids, Mich. | Seton Hall / Dallas College Richland
Min will spend his final year of collegiate eligibility with the Broncos, returning to the state where he was born. The senior forward spent the previous season with the Seton Hall Pirates, appearing in 16 matches with nine starts to close out the season. Through 16 appearances, Min scored two goals and assisted on three others for seven points.

"Joseph is a talented attacking player with Division I big-game experience. Last season at Seton Hall, he was the starting No. 9, helping the program earn an NCAA Tournament berth and advance in the tournament," says Head Coach Chad Wiseman of Min. "Joe has the versatility to play anywhere across the front line and brings a high-level technical skill set to us.

"He is extremely confident taking players on in 1v1 situations while consistently creating goal-scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Joseph is also a tireless worker whose mentality and commitment will fit in seamlessly with his new teammates. His competitiveness, technical ability, and experience will make him an exciting addition to the program,".

Prior to his season in New Jersey, Min played his first two years of collegiate soccer at NJCAA Dallas College Richland. Over two seasons Min appeared in 30 matches with 24 starts, including starting in all 15 matches his sophomore season. The forward scored 26 goals, added 12 assists, and recorded 64 points for the Thunderducks in two seasons. Min helped lead the Thunderducks to back-to-back NJCAA DIII National Championship games, including taking the national title in 2023.

As a freshman, Min was named a NJCAA Division III Second Team All-American while also making the USC All-East Region Team and the All-Dallas Athletic Conference (DAC) First Team member. After improving his goal total by 10 over his sophomore season, Min was named a NJCAA Division III First Team All-American, a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, the DAC's Most Valuable Player, a member of the USC All-East Region Team and a member of the All-DAC First Team.

Dan McHale | D | 6-3 | So. | Dublin, Ireland | St. Patrick's Athletic FC | Kentucky
After a season without a player from the Emerald Isle, WMU adds McHale to its 2026 roster. McHale spent his first collegiate season with the Kentucky Wildcats before joining the Brown and Gold. The defender appeared in three matches for the Wildcats last year while recording one shot.

"Dan joins us after spending three semesters at the University of Kentucky, where he gained valuable experience both in matches and on the training field. We expect him to contribute at either center back position right away," says Wiseman. "Dan has excellent size at 6-3, but he plays even bigger than his frame suggests.

"He is a tough, physical defender who is strong in the tackle and does an outstanding job organizing the players in front of him. His ability to win aerial duels will be a key asset, especially as we enter conference play later in the season. Dan is eager to make an immediate impact on the Bronco roster, and I believe he will complement our talented group of center backs extremely well,".

Before heading across the pond, McHale spent two seasons with St. Patrick's Athletics FC, a League of Ireland Premier Division club in the first tier. McHale also was a member of the Republic of Ireland's U17 squad in 2022 where he made three appearances including the UEFA European U17 Championship qualification match.
