INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Western Michigan track and field team concluded competition at the Butler Invitational this evening, finishing the meet with top-10 records and personal-best marks.
Bri'Yanna Robinson stole the show, earning a top-five mark in school history with her throw of 14.84 meters in the shot put. She was also excellent in the weight throw, earning a throw of 16.74 meters, which is just outside the top-10 in program history.
Kennedy Hagens,
Lane Hagens and
Mariah Sackett all competed in the weight throw, with Kennedy earning a throw of 14.34 meters, Lane getting a mark of 14.06 meters and Sackett recording a throw of 11.45 meters.
Kennedy Hagens' mark was a personal best.
Outside of Robinson in the shot put,
Lane Hagens had a PR with a mark of 13.32 meters.
Tess Van Dyk was able to register a throw of 11.03 meters.
Mimi Joseph and
Layla Wallace were strong in the long jump, with Joseph grabbing a PR mark of 5.54 meters. Wallace ended the event with a jump of 4.32 meters.
In the 60-meter dash,
Laurie-Ann Desormes was able to grab first place with a time of 7.70, which just missed a top-10 mark in program history. Following that,
Grace Johnson and
Soniya Jones stole the show in the 200-meter dash, placing first and second, respectively. Johnson had a time of 24.97, while Jones crossed the finish line in a time of 25.14. Johnson's time was a PR.
Mabinty Kebe was then able to grab first place in the 400-meter dash, notching a time of 56.47, which was a personal-best mark.
Maggie Raab,
Rebekah Asselin and
Claira Gilchrist all competed in the 800-meter run, with Raab earning a time of 2:22.96, Asselin posting a time of 2:23.42 and Gilchrist crossing the line in 2:30.07. Asselin's time was a personal-best mark.
In her season debut,
Annalise James was able to win the mile with a time of 5:02.06.
Madison Zarembski,
Larissa McGrath and
Brooke Soper also ran in the event, earning times of 5:17.41, 5:23.67 and 5:27.77, respectively. All three of those times were PR's.
Ending the distance events was
Danielle Rinn, who won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:41.94.
Kayla Schiera grabbed third in the race with a PR time of 9:45.00 and
Lillian Zelasko was fourth with a time of 9:49.15.
To end the meet, the team of
Sandra Ferrari, Joseph,
Anichka Malachi and Desormes were able to grab second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:02.95.

WMU will be back in action in a couple weeks when it heads to the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 2-3. The meet is hosted by Notre Dame.
