KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan University softball team and head coach
Jenny Rohn announced the signing of catcher Gabbie Evans to the program's class of 2023.
A native of Whiteland, Ind., Evans arrives in Kalamazoo after spending her freshman season at Michigan State. Evans saw action in five games for the Spartans and made her collegiate debut in a non-conference tilt against Northern Kentucky. She then collected her first collegiate hit, a pinch-hit, two-run single, in a 4-0 MSU win over Purdue.
Evans played two successful seasons at Roncalli High School and graduated with honors before attending Michigan State. Committed to the sport, she spent four seasons playing travel ball for the EC Bullets under head coach Greg Schnute. Evan's contributions as a catcher earned her national recognition as the 56th-ranked player in her position by Extra Innings Softball and 146th overall recruit in the class of 2022.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Evans was a member of both the National Honor Society and the German National Honor Society.
