COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) has unveiled its 2023-24 schedule, with the action beginning on Nov. 3.
Western Michigan is fresh off of its best NCHC finish in program history, claiming second place with 15 conference wins and 44 points. The Broncos tallied 23 wins overall and made the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Over the last two years under head coach
Pat Ferschweiler, WMU hasn't finished lower than third in the conference.
To begin the 2023-24 conference season, WMU will travel to Omaha on Nov. 3-4 before returning home to square off with St. Cloud State on Nov. 10-11. The Broncos conclude the first half of the conference season with games at Colorado College, vs. Denver, at Miami (OH) and vs. Minnesota Duluth.
The second half of the schedule begins on Jan. 26-27, with WMU hosting Colorado College. Western Michigan will then travel to Denver before returning home to host Omaha. After an off week, the Broncos have back-to-back road weekends against St. Cloud State and North Dakota. The final series of the regular season will see Miami (OH) come to Lawson for a pair of games.
WMU will have one series against Minnesota Duluth and North Dakota this season. The Broncos won three of four games against the Bulldogs and took seven of a possible 12 points against the Fighting Hawks last season. Western Michigan beat everyone in the conference at least once last season outside of Denver.
Following the regular season, the top-four seeds will host NCHC Quarterfinal games on March 15-17. The Frozen Faceoff will take place on March 22-23.
