CARMEL, Ind. – The Western Michigan golf team moved up two places to finish in fourth at the IUPUI Lady Jaguar Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Club on Sunday.
The Broncos shot a 314 to improve their position and finish with a 36-hole total of 623 (+47). WMU finished just four shots behind Eastern Michigan and six shots from second-place Cleveland State. The host Jaguars won the tournament with a 611 (+26).
Freshman Mega Vallabhaneni was WMU's top individual, finishing in a tie for seventh place with a 36-hole total of 151 (+7). She finished just three shots from the four-way tie for first place. Vallabhaneni had 26 pars and two birdies on the weekend.
Competing as an individual, senior Haley Barclay finished just one shot behind her teammate at 152 (+8). Barclay tied for the tournament lead with 27 pars and also had two birdies. Graduate student Natalie Samdal was WMU's second official finisher with a 155 (+11) after a final round of 79. Samdal led the Broncos with four birdies. Senior Alissa Fish had a 158 (+14), while freshman Kailey White finished just one stroke behind her. Jenna Hayes rounded out Western Michigan's five competitors with a 161 (+17).
With the regular season finished, Western Michigan now prepares to host the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament beginning on Friday at Kalamazoo Country Club.
