KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- With the college hockey season now complete, the Western Michigan hockey team was able to maintain its spot as one of the top team's in the nation.
The DCU/USCHO.com poll had the Broncos at No. 11, while the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll put WMU at No. 12. The Broncos have been a mainstay in the national poll, spending the last 52 weeks as a top-20 team.
Western Michigan is coming off of one of its best seasons in program history. WMU collected its highest NCHC finish in program history, earning second place with 15 NCHC victories and 44 points. Furthermore, WMU tallied 23 wins and earned another berth to the NCAA Tournament. That marks the second time in school history that the team has made back-to-back appearances in the tournament.
Due to the team's success and their play on the ice, six Broncos signed professional contracts this offseason:
Jason Polin,
Aidan Fulp,
Ryan McAllister,
Max Sasson,
Cole Gallant and
Jamie Rome.
