KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team begins its quest for its 28th Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship this weekend, hosting Binghamton on Friday and Buffalo on Sunday. Both matches start at 1 p.m. at West Hills Athletic Club, admission is free.
The Broncos enter MAC play after going 4-6 in non-conference play. All six of WMU's losses have come against ranked opponents, including last Friday's tight 4-2 loss at Michigan State. Western Michigan went 9-1 in MAC play last season, winning its 27th MAC Regular Season Championship. The Broncos will need to have success on the road to reach their next one. After the match with the Bulls, they head on the road for five-straight conference matches before returning home to host Ball State on Friday, April 7.
Binghamton enters Friday with a 4-10 record, already with three more wins than it had during the entire 2021-22 season. The Bearcats are on a two-match win streak with victories over Niagara and Colgate last weekend. BU also has wins over Bryant and Fordham.
The Bulls are 4-3 on the season and are 4-1 in their last five matches, including three-straight wins over Niagara, Princeton and Quinnipiac. Buffalo travels to Northern Illinois to take on the Huskies on Friday before its trip to Kalamazoo.
Western Michigan heads to Muncie, Ind., to take on the Cardinals next Friday before traveling to Toledo next Sunday.
