HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up competition at the Low Country Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford College at Moss Creek Golf Club, on Sunday afternoon.
After Saturday's play had to be canceled due to rain, the tournament switched to a 36-hole format and finished up on Sunday. The Broncos finished 13th after shooting a final round of 321 for a total of 648 (+72).
Freshmen Jenna Hayes and Megha Vallabhaneni led the way, individually, for the Broncos. Hayes finished with a 160 (+16) after shooting a final round of 78. Vallabhaneni finished two strokes behind her with a 162 (+18). Haley Barclay bested her first-round score by six strokes, shooting a 79 on the final day for a 164 (+20). Senior Alissa Fish was just one stroke behind her, while Natalie Samdal finished off WMU's five with a 174 (+30).
Western Michigan is off for two weeks and resumes play on Friday, April 7 at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, hosted by Bowling Green and Stone Ridge Golf Club.
