CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With the conclusion of the indoor track and field season, the Mid-American Conference announced it's All-MAC performers. Graduate student
Makayla Perez and junior
Grace Johnson were the Western Michigan representatives.
Perez was earned First Team All-MAC honors after an impressive run in the 5K. Perez shattered the meet record by 22 seconds and became the first MAC Champion in program history since 2019. She completed the race in a time of 16:07.15. Outside of her All-MAC performance, she also finished third in the 3K.
Johnson was just as impressive in her lone event of the Indoor MAC Championships. Not only was she able to claim Second Team All-MAC honors, but her 60-meter hurdles time of 8.48 in the finals was a program record. Johnson improved upon her prelim time, where she crossed the finish line in 8.53.
Perez and Johnson will look to carry that momentum into the outdoor season, which begins for the Broncos on March 17 at the Miami (OH) Blizzard Buster.
