COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Thanks to a fantastic weekend between the pipes against Colorado College, junior goaltender
Cameron Rowe was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) Goaltender of the Week. Rowe has earned that honor five times this season, including three of the last five weeks.
Rowe played a big role in the sweep of the Tigers, posting a 2-0-0 record, while making 54 saves. Additionally, he finished the two-game series with a 1.00 goals against average and .964 save percentage. Rowe has allowed two or fewer goals in 11 of the last 12 games, and the Broncos are 11-1-0 over their last 12 contests. The stellar weekend helped WMU jump to No. 5 in the national polls and No. 6 in the Pairwise.
The junior from Illinois has played a major role in WMU's ascent up the national rankings, as his play over the last 12 games has solidified the Broncos' place in the top four of the NCHC. Over the last 12 games, Rowe has made 305 saves, while giving up just 19 goals. He boasts a 1.58 GAA and .941 save percentage in that stretch. With that, WMU has clinched home ice for the first round of the NCHC Playoffs.
Rowe and the Broncos will be in action again when No. 3 Denver comes to town this weekend. Friday night's game will air on CBS Sports Network, with Saturday's finale beginning at 6 p.m. on NCHC.tv. Both games can be heard on the Bronco Media Network.
