CLEVELAND, Ohio – A total of 129 Mid-American Conference women's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2023 Women's Soccer Academic All-MAC Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Western Michigan tied for the third most honorees in the league, with 12 players earning the award. The Broncos had Drew Martin, Lauren Boafo, Mira Pierre-Webster, Reagan Wisser, Jaden Peck, Brooke Bailey, Heidi Thomasma, Bria Telemaque, Emily Pagett, Olivia Brunink, Jenna Blackburn and Madi Canada make the All-Academic Team. Blackburn, Boafo, Pagett and Pierre-Webster were also named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District a couple weeks ago.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible.
Among the 129 players that were honored, just 16 had perfect 4.00 GPA's including sophomore Drew Martin. Additionally, despite needing a 3.20 GPA to qualify, each player listed for WMU had a 3.33 GPA or higher.
