WMU Receives Votes in Final AVCA/TARAFLEX Poll of 2023

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball team received votes in the final AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Women's Volleyball poll of 2023 which was released on Monday.

Western Michigan was fifth among vote-getters just outside of the top-25 with 14 votes. It marks the first time WMU has received votes in the final AVCA poll since the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Winners of both the MAC Regular Season and Tournament titles, the Broncos went 31-3 in 2023, their highest win total since 1983. As MAC Tournament champions, Western Michigan received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, where it upset No. 7 seed Auburn in the first round for its first NCAA Tournament victory since it reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2008.

MAC Coach of the Year and AVCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year Colleen Munson's squad is set to bring back a large core of this year's squad in 2024, including MAC Player of the Year, Setter of the Year and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American Logan Case, MAC Defensive Player of the Year Andelyn Simkins and All-MAC Second Team selections Mary Clare Brusek, Anna Calcagno and Keona Salesman.
