Broncos Ink Grand Rapids Native EJ Ryans

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program and head coach Dwayne Stephens have announced the signing of Grand Rapids native EJ Ryans to its 2024 recruiting class. Ryans is set to join the Broncos for the 2024-25 campaign.

"EJ is a great student-athlete who excels both on and off the court," coach Stephens said. "On the court, he does a little bit of everything. He has a great basketball IQ and comes from a winning program. He is what being a Bronco is all about. We are excited about EJ joining the Bronco family!"

A 6-3 combo guard, Ryans is slated to begin his senior season for head coach David Channa at Northview High School in Grand Rapids in a few weeks. During his first three seasons with the Wildcats, he has posted averages of 15 points, six assists and five rebounds per game.

Thus far during his high school career, Ryans has helped the Wildcats to a pair of conference titles, a district championship, a regional championship and an appearance in the Final Four in 2021-22, where his team faced current Bronco Michael Sulaka's De La Salle Collegiate squad.

Ryans has racked up numerous accolades along the way, starting with an Honorable Mention All-Conference nod his freshman year. As a sophomore, he earned First Team All-Conference and All-State selections. Last season, he was once again First Team All-Conference, and was also picked All-Area, All-State and Detroit Free Press All-State. Academically, he boasts Academic All-Conference and Academic All-State honors on his resume.
