UNITED STATES -- On Tuesday, October 3, the NCAA announced that the Western Michigan men's soccer team was named the NCAA Team of the Week.
The Brown and Gold captured two 1-0 shutout road victories against Wright State and #20 UIC last week, en route to their first NCAA Team of the Week honor this season. Overall, WMU is 7-1-2 and is riding a nine-game unbeaten streak, which started on Sunday, August 27, after a 3-1 win over Utah Valley University.
On the offensive front, Western Michigan has been led by
Dylan Sing and
Charlie Sharp, whom have combined for 14 goals this season. In the assist department, WMU has seen production from
Carson Hodgson and
Jonathan Robinson: So far, during the 2023 campaign the duo has totaled 12 combined assists.
In the defensive third of the field, Western Michigan's back line has been phenomenal: During the team's 10 games, the Brown and Gold have conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game. If they can maintain their goals against average, the Broncos will allow less than one goal per game in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
The Broncos will return to action at the University of Evansville on Saturday, October 7 at 4:00 PM. Live Stats and livestream information are available under the men's soccer schedule.
