Sharp, Sing, And Hodgson Named To TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- TopDrawerSoccer released its midseason college soccer top 100 player rankings at the halfway mark of the 2023 season. Charlie Sharp, Dylan Sing, and Carson Hodgson represented Western Michigan in this year's midseason rankings.

Charlie Sharp: 35th

Through 12 games played this season, veteran forward Charlie Sharp has accumulated nine goals and three assists for the Broncos. In Western's last two wins over Drake (3-0) and NIU (3-1) Sharp combined for two goals and two assists to put himself at striking distance to claim Dan Edwards'(1991-94) record for the most goals scored in program history. So far this season the Brown and Gold have won every single contest where Sharp has either recorded a goal or an assist. Sharp stands at 32 career goals and is three strikes away from surpassing Edwards for the goal-scoring record. As of this morning, Sharp ranks 19th overall in NCAA Division I men's soccer goal scoring department.

Dylan Sing: 49th

Sing currently leads the Broncos this year in total goals with 12 scored in 14 games played. Most recently, Sing set the program record for the most consecutive games with a goal scored from September 10 - October 11 (eight straight games with a goal). Over his last 10 games, Sing has averaged 1.2 goals per contest which has propelled him to 29 goals during his Bronco tenure. Currently, Sing is tied with Randy Wojtala (1976-79) for the third most goals scored in program history. Just like Sharp, in games where Sing has either scored or assisted, the Brown and Gold have remained undefeated. Overall, Sing ranks second in NCAA Division I men's soccer in goal scoring as of this morning. Entering this weekend, he is one goal away from matching Jason Shokalook (13 goals) for a share of the regular season goal scoring title.

Carson Hodgson: 57th

Sophomore midfielder Carson Hodgson has recorded career bests in the goal and assist departments this season. So far through 14 games in 2023, Hodgson has scored four goals and has distributed eight assists for WMU. As of this afternoon, Hodgson is ranked 9th in the NCAA in total assists. The sophomore is currently two assists behind for a share of the regular season assist title with Ploutarchos Alonefti and Roberto Ordonez (10 assists). Hodgson's efforts in the passing lane has rewarded him a tie for the fifth most assists recorded in program history for a single season entering this weekend.

Sharp, Sing, Hodgson, and the rest of the Broncos will return to action in a road matchup at  #10 Missouri State this Sunday at 4:00 PM.
