CLEVELAND – Western Michigan redshirt sophomore guard
Lauren Ross has received another MAC Player of the Week award, the league office announced on Monday. It is Ross's fourth Player of the Week award this season.
Lauren Ross turned in a strong performance last week, averaging 23.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3 APG, and 1.5 SPG in contests against Ohio and Buffalo. With a season-high of three-point field goals made (5) and three-point field goal attempts (10), she shot 8-of-13 from the floor, 5-of-10 from beyond the arch, and 6-of-9 from the charity stripe for a total of 27 points. She added four assists and two rebounds to wrap up a 68-57 win against Ohio University.
In Saturday's contest with Buffalo, Ross recorded 20 points shooting 7-of-12 from the field, 3-of-7 from deep, and 3-of-4 from the line. She tallied two assists to notch the Bronco's fourth MAC win with a 68-56 victory.
For the season, Ross leads the MAC in field goals (121), points (371), and points per game (21.8). She stands second in the MAC for free throws (94), fourth for field goal attempts (260) and free throw percentage (83.9) and sixth for three-pointers per game (2.06).
Nationally, she ranks 20th in total points (371) and 8th in points per game (21.8). Additionally, Ross is currently 18th in made free throws (94) and 32nd in free throw attempts (112).
Western Michigan hosts Eastern Michigan University for an in-conference matchup of the regular season this week. Tip-off for Wednesday between the Broncos and Eagles is slated for 7 pm.
