COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Western Michigan junior goalie
Cameron Rowe has been named the KJ Branding National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week for his stellar performances at Colorado College this past weekend.
Rowe has now earned the honor three times, having also won the award on Jan. 2 for his play in the Great Lakes Invitational and on Oct. 24 after a great series against Notre Dame. On the weekend, Rowe posted phenomenal numbers in the two wins over Colorado College. In the first game, Rowe tallied 27 saves, including a 14 save second period. He helped the Broncos kill off two penalties, which included a five-minute major.
The following night, Rowe was again sensational, making 23 saves, including another 14 save second period. The Tigers finished 0-for-4 on the power play Saturday night, and Rowe improved his season record to 15-8-1. In total, Rowe made 50 saves and tallied a .962 save percentage on the weekend.
The Broncos are currently riding a six-game win streak, and Rowe is a big reason why. Over those six games, Rowe was the goaltender in all six wins and has allowed more than two goals just once in that six game stretch. He has recorded 146 saves and holds a .930 save percentage in the win streak.
Rowe and the Broncos will return home for the first time since Dec. 10 when they take on Omaha this weekend. WMU and Omaha are two of the hottest teams in the country, with the Broncos having won six straight and Omaha carrying a five-game winning streak. Friday's game will begin at 7 p.m. inside Lawson Arena, while Saturday's contest will have a 6 p.m. start time. Tickets are still available for the weekend series and can be purchased at
