KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- With a series sweep against Colorado College this past weekend, the Western Michigan hockey team has continued to ascend in the national polls. The Broncos handed the Tigers a pair of 4-1 losses and have now won six consecutive games.
Both the DCU/USCHO.com poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll had the Broncos at No. 9, which is a one-spot jump from last weeks ranking. WMU was able to leap over Harvard in both polls.
The Broncos will finally return home for a pair of games against Omaha this weekend. WMU hasn't had a game inside Lawson Arena since a series against North Dakota on Dec. 9-10. Western and Omaha are two of the hottest teams in the conference right now, as the Broncos have notched six straight wins, while Omaha hasn't lost in five straight. Friday night's game will begin at 7 p.m., while the series finale will have a 6 p.m. puck drop.
