Polin and Rowe Earn NCHC Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- After claiming the MacInnes Cup at the 2022 Great Lakes Invitational, Western Michigan hockey's Jason Polin and Cameron Rowe captured National Collegiate Hockey Conference Player of the Week Honors.

Polin was named KJ Branding NCHC Forward of the Week and Rowe was named KJ Branding NCHC Goalie of the Week.

Polin was voted the GLI's Most Valuable Player after recording back-to-back hat tricks in wins over Michigan Tech and Ferris State. His six total goals was a tournament record and boosted him to a nation's-best 19 on the season. He also is now second in the nation in total points with 30, trailing only linemate Ryan McAllister. In the tournament-opening win over the Huskies, he netted the first goal of the game to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. He then tallied twice in the second period to push the lead to 3-0 and 6-0. Against the Bulldogs he had a natural hat trick, scoring WMU's second, third and fourth goals of the game.

Rowe gave up just three goals in the tournament, earning a spot on the GLI All-Tournament Team. In the win over MTU he had 24 saves and then finished it up with 28 against the Bulldogs. This is the second NCHC Goalie of the Week honors for Rowe this season, who has now allowed two or fewer goals in each of the last four games.

The Broncos are off this weekend before resuming play on Jan. 13-14 at North Dakota. Both games can be watched line on NCHC.tv.
