Men's Soccer Looks to Extend Winning Streak at BGSU

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team heads on the road to Bowling Green on Tuesday at 7 p.m., looking for its seventh straight win and second win in the Mid-American Conference. 

The Broncos (6-1, 1-0 MAC) opened MAC play with a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois, last Thursday. Three goals from Eric Conerty, Daniel Nimick, and Charlie Sharp combined with goalkeeper Hunter Morse's four saves, earned the Broncos their fifth shutout of the season. 


HEATING UP  Morse recorded his fifth shutout with the Broncos against Northern Illinois. Morse, who has played every minute in net for WMU this season, has allowed just three goals while making 17 saves. 

Eric Conerty has made an impact, recording his first goal of the season in the 18th minute against NIU, while also tallying an assist. Senior forward Dylan Sing leads the Broncos in goals with four, while Sharp has posted a team-high five assists. 


SCOUTING THE FALCONS Bowling Green prepares to host WMU following its most recent win against Oakland University, beating the Golden Grizzlies 6-0.

The contest against WMU serves as the MAC opener for the Falcons, who started out non-conference play by going 2-2-3 with wins against OU and Air Force, ties with Michigan State, Michigan and DePaul. BGSU suffered losses at the hands of Loyola Chicago and Ohio State. 

The Falcons have scored 10 goals on the season, with Alberto Anaya leading the way with three. Sergi Martinez and Joey Akpunonu have also tallied twice. Anaya also has a team-high three assists for nine total points. Brendan Graves has played every minute in net, allowing four goals and making 18 saves. 


ON THE HORIZON  Following their trip to Ohio, the Broncos return home for a conference game against Chicago State University (1-5-3) on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. Admission is free.
