KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer program and head coach Lewis Robinson are excited to announce the hiring of Marti Corby to the position of assistant coach.
Corby follows Robinson from Aquinas College, where she served as an assistant coach for the past two years. At Aquinas she assisted the team during two record-breaking seasons and NAIA Final National Rankings of 15 in 2020-21 and 9 in the fall 2021 season. During this past season she was a part of the United Soccer Coaches NAIA Coaching Staff of the Year.
""I am really excited at the opportunity to have Marti joining us here at Western Michigan University and I know she will be a wonderful addition to our women's soccer program," said Robinson. "Having worked with Marti for several years she is a proven winner, and brings championship experience at multiple levels. I know her experience, knowledge, and commitment to the program will be a huge asset to our student athlete's success and their experience here in Kalamazoo."
Corby also served on the staff of Midwest United Football Club, where she coached youth teams, aided with player recruitment, retention and evaluation. She also had assistant coaching spots with Adrian College and Allendale High School. Corby earned a graduate degree at Xavier University, where she also worked in the student-athlete athletic performance office.
Corby starred for Grand Valley State, where she was twice named NCAA Division II Player of the Year (2014, 2015). She helped the Lakers to three National Championships and was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American.
Corby's hiring will be official upon completion of a background check.
