Hockey Announces Non-Conference Schedule

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team and head coach Pat Ferschweiler have announced the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season, featuring home games against Bowling Green, Notre Dame and Michigan. 

WMU opens the season heading out to Alaska for the first time since 2012, taking on Alaska-Anchorage on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2. The Broncos then head to Ferris State for a single game on Saturday, Oct. 8. 

The first regular season home game comes on Thursday, Oct. 13 as WMU hosts the Falcons, before heading to BGSU on Friday. The Broncos and the Fighting Irish have a home-and-home series slated for Oct. 21-22, with WMU heading to South Bend on Friday and UND making the trip to Kalamazoo on Saturday. Western Michigan and Michigan go head-to-head for a home-and-home series the following weekend, with the Broncos heading to Ann Arbor for the Friday tilt and the Wolverines coming to Lawson Ice Arena on Saturday. 

After three straight weeks of National Collegiate Hockey Conference action, WMU heads to Nashville and Bridgestone Arena for a rematch of the 2022 NCAA Northeast Regional Semifinal against Northeastern on Black Friday, Nov. 25. The Broncos wrap up their non-conference slate with the previously released Great Lakes Invitational on Dec. 27-28.
