Volleyball Receives USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball program has earned the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.

Initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

The Broncos earned the award for the third consecutive season and the ninth time overall, eight of which have come under head coach Colleen Munson. Following the 2021 campaign, Western Michigan had Mairead Boyle, Logan Case, Maggie King, Meredith Phillips and Andelyn Simkins earn Academic All-MAC honors. It was the second consecutive year that five WMU student-athletes received the honor.
