VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. – Western Michigan head golf coach Kim Moore heads to the legendary No. 6 Golf Course at Pinehurst to compete in the first-ever U.S. Adaptive Open July 18-20.
Moore is set to tee-off on Monday morning at 8:36 a.m. Live scoring and in-depth coverage, including highlights, will be available at www.USGA.org.
The field consists of 96 golfers from ages 15-80 from 12 total countries and 28 states within the United States. Moore was born without a right foot and a slight case of spina bifida.
The United States Golf Association established the U.S. Adaptive Open as a new national championship to showcase the world's best golfers with disabilities. The creation of the tournament followed through from a pledge by the USGA in 2017 to establish a championship for the adaptive golf community.
This is Moore's second competitive tournament since the college golf season ended for WMU back in April. In may she competed for Team USA in the Cairns Cup, adaptive golf's version of the Ryder Cup, and helped her USA claim the championship. In 2021 she won the U.S. National Amputee Golf Championships.
