KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team heads on the road for the first time in Mid-American Conference play, traveling to Buffalo on Friday and on to Binghamton on Saturday.
The Broncos take on the Bulls at 1 p.m. and then the Bearcats at 6 p.m. WMU also takes a trip to Cornell to battle the Big Red on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Western Michigan opened MAC play last weekend with two big home wins over Ball State and Toledo. The victories pushed WMU's MAC regular season match win streak to 30. The Broncos won nine of the 12 singles matches and claimed the doubles point in both, going 2-0 in each match.
Buffalo enters Friday's match 2-7 overall and 1-0 in the MAC after defeating Binghamton last Saturday, 6-1. Simon Wibler is 2-6 in dual matches this season, all at No. 1, while Finn Macnamara and Greg Hastings have a 6-2 record in doubles play with a 6-1 record at No. 3.
The Bearcats are 1-11 overall and host Northern Illinois on Friday before welcoming the Broncos on Saturday. Sophomore Shourya Verma has played every dual match at No. 1 singles this season, posting a 6-5 record. BU's top doubles pairing has been Kyle Weeks and Joshua Roe Flannelly, posting a 4-4 record with a 3-1 mark at No. 2 and a 1-3 mark at No. 1.
The Big Red are 9-3 in dual matches, with eight of the wins coming at home, and have yet to start Ivy League play this season.
Western Michigan returns home next Saturday to host Northern Illinois at 2 p.m.
