COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan junior defenseman Ronnie Attard and freshman forward Max Sasson have both earned Bauer NCHC Weekly Honors with Attard earning Defenseman of the Week and Sasson earning Rookie of the Week.
 
This is the second Bauer NCHC Defenseman of the Week Award for Attard, who tallied five points in WMU's sweep of Colorado College. In Friday's 8-2 win he had four points on three goals and an assist, netting his second career hat trick and second of the season. Philadelphia Flyers' draft pick netted WMU's first, fifth and sixth goals of the game and assisted on the team's fourth goal. In Saturday's 5-4 win he finished with an assist, helping set up WMU's first goal of the game.

Sasson, the reigning NCHC Rookie of the Month, earns Bauer NCHC Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season. The Birmingham, Mich., native had six points on the weekend In Friday's win he had a career-high four points with two goals and two assists. He netted the second goal of the game to give WMU a 2-0 lead early in the first period and followed it up with his second goal that made it 4-0 early in the second period. He then assisted on WMU's sixth and seventh goals of the game. In Saturday's 5-4 win he assisted on the team's second goal of the game and then the fourth. Sasson extended his career-best point streak to seven games, with 13 points on five goals and eight assists.

The fifth-ranked Broncos are back in action this Friday and Saturday, traveling to No. 10 St. Cloud State. Friday's puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. and Saturday's at 7 p.m. Both games will be live on NCHC.tv and on the Bronco Media Network.
