KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team heads on to road to Drake University to take on the Bulldogs on Friday at 6 p.m. and Wichita State on Saturday at 12 p.m.
 
The Broncos are looking to rebound after a tough 7-0 loss at Notre Dame last Friday. WMU is also searching for its first dual match win away from home this season. Western Michigan enters the weekend 0-2 in away matches and 0-2 in neutral site matches so far.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Drake enters Friday's match with a 1-7 record in dual matches. Friday is also DU's first home match of the season. The Bulldogs had previously had a home match against NIU canceled back in January. Drake's lone win this season came at Utah State last Saturday, a 4-3 victory.
 
Western Michigan is 0-6 all-time against Drake, with the last meeting coming on Jan. 17 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Bulldogs edged the Broncos that day 4-3.
 
SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS
Wichita State is 6-3 in dual matches this season. The Broncos are 2-0 all-time against the Shockers, with the last meeting coming back on Feb. 16, 2019. WMU earned a 5-2 win against WSU at the University of Minnesota.
 
Freshman Kristof Minarik is a perfect 8-0 in dual matches so far this season, going 1-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 and 6-0 at No. 3. Junior Nicolas Acevedo has played the most matches at No. 1, posting a 3-2 record and a 5-3 record overall. Acevedo and Luka Mrsic are 5-2 in doubles, all at No. 1, while Minarik and Alex Richards are 6-1 overall with a 3-1 record at No. 3, 2-0 at No. 1 and 1-0 at No. 1.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan heads on the road next weekend to take on Wisconsin on Saturday at 1 p.m. It's the non-conference dual match for the Broncos before beginning Mid-American Conference play at home on March 11 against Ball State at 2 p.m.
