KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Western Michigan hockey's senior captain Jason Polin and freshman forward Ryan McAllister have both earned Hockey Coaches Association National Monthly Honors for November.
Polin has been named the HCA Men's Co-Player of the Month and McAllister has been named the HCA Men's Rookie of the Month.
Polin opened November recording back-to-back hat tricks in WMU's sweep of the RedHawks. In the first game of the series, he tallied three goals in the 7-1 victory. On the second night he finished with a career-high five points on three goals and two assists, factoring in every goal in the 5-2 win. The Holt, Mich,. native also had two assists in the win over the Bulldogs and finished off the month with his third hat trick of the season in the win over the Huskies.
McAllister, the nation's leading scorer, posted 16 points from two goals and 14 assists in seven games. The London, Ontario, native also had a +10 plus/minus and fired off 26 total shots on goal. McAllister opened the month with six assists in a sweep of Miami, tallying three in each game. He also had two assists in a 4-2 win at St. Cloud State, a goal and two assists in a win over Minnesota-Duluth and then three more assists in WMU's Music City Hockey Classic victory over Northeastern.
McAllister, Polin and the Broncos are back in action at Lawson Ice Arena this weekend against North Dakota. Friday's puck drop is set for 7 p.m. and Saturday's is at 6 p.m. Tickets are limited but still available at www.wmubroncos.com/tickets and by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX.
