COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan hockey's
Jason Polin and Ryan McAllister have earned KJ Branding NCHC Player of the Week honors for their role in WMU's sweep of Miami over the weekend.
Polin had a career-best weekend with a combined eight points in the sweep of the Redhawks, earning KJ Branding NCHC Forward of the Week. In Friday's 7-1 win he recorded his second collegiate hat trick, scoring WMU's second, third and sixth goals on the night. On Saturday he had a career-high five points on two assists and another hat trick. The senior captain scored Western Michigan's first three goals and then assisted on the fourth and fifth in the 5-2 win. Polin now leads the team with nine goals on the season.
McAllister earns KJ Branding NCHC Rookie of the Week for the third-straight week after a six-point weekend against the RedHawks. All six points came as assists for the London, Ontario, native. On Friday he assisted on the Broncos' first two goals of the game and then helped set up the fourth. In Saturday's win he had the primary assist on each of Polin's three goals. He now sits second in the nation in total scoring with 19 points and leads the nation with 14 assists.
Western Michigan is on the road this weekend, heading to take on No. 4 St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday night. Both games can be watch live on NCHC.tv and heard live on the Bronco Media Network.
