CLEVELAND – After earning a sixth MAC West Offensive Player of the Week selection to
close out the regular season, Western Michigan senior outside hitter
Maggie King has been named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the second time in 2022, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
A Child & Family Development major who owns a 3.97 GPA, King had a career-high 30 kills on a .333 hitting percentage as Western Michigan wrapped up its regular season with a five-set victory over Northern Illinois last Wednesday. It was the eighth 30-kill performance in WMU program history, and its first since Rachel Bontrager racked up 30 kills in a win over Buffalo on March 4, 2021. King also contributed seven digs in the contest.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, the Scholar Athlete of the Week honor adds to King's numerous accolades this season, which also include her
third straight All-MAC First Team honor and a selection to the
CSC Academic All-District Team.
