King Collects Sixth Player of the Week Award

CLEVELAND – Western Michigan senior outside hitter Maggie King has received her sixth MAC West Offensive Player of the Week award of the 2022 season, the league office announced on Friday. The six Player of the Week awards are the most for a Bronco in a single season since Rachel Bontrager and Logan Case each won six during the Spring 2021 campaign.

King had a career-high 30 kills on a .333 hitting percentage as the Broncos wrapped up the regular season with a five-set victory over Northern Illinois on Wednesday. It was the eighth 30-kill performance in WMU program history, and its first since Bontrager racked up 30 kills in a win over Buffalo on March 4, 2021. King also contributed seven digs to Western Michigan's defensive effort.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, King led the Mid-American Conference in both kills (458) and points (515.0) during the regular season. She ranks 13th in the nation in points and 15th nationally in kills. King finished second in the conference in both kills per set (3.98) and points per set (4.48), as well as third in both service aces (43) and aces per set (0.37).
