TAKING A LOOK AT THE SPARTANS (2-0, Big Ten Conference)
Michigan State enters Sunday's contest against the Broncos coming off a win over conference opponent Purdue Fort Wayne by a final score of 85-53.
Senior forward Taiyer Parks set a new career with 18 points, while graduate guard Kamaria McDaniel added 14 points with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Freshman Theryn Hallock scored 13 points, while sophomore guard Matilda Ekh and senior guard Moira Joiner both added 10 points.
As a unit, Michigan State averages 85.5 PPG on 45 percent shooting from the field. The Spartans also average 48 rebounds per contest, for a +16-rebound margin per game over their opponents. MSU averages 16.5 free throws per game and knocks down 68.8 percent of their attempts from the line. Michigan State dishes out 21 assists per contest while averaging 13 steals per game.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM WESTERN MICHIGAN (0-1, Mid-American Conference)
The Broncos enter Breslin Center after falling to Loyola Chicago, 60-51 in its home opener.
Taylor Williams led the Broncos with 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting and grabbed a team-high of seven rebounds.
Lauren Ross added 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting. As a team the Broncos shot 44.9 percent (22-for-49) but finished just 2-for 16 from the three-point line.
As a unit, WMU averages 51 PPG, shooting 44.9 percent from the field. The Broncos also average 17 rebounds each time out. The Broncos average five attempts from the foul line per game, capitalizing on 50 percent of their free throws collectively. WMU adds, 3 assists per game while recording six steals on average.
