McAllister Named NCHC Rookie of the Month

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Western Michigan freshman forward Ryan McAllister has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Month for October, the league has announced on Tuesday.

In his first month of collegiate action, McAllister put up 13 points on five goals and eight assists in nine games. His point total was second among rookies nationally and second overall in the conference.

The London, Ontario, native started off his career five-game point streak. He tallied a pair of assists in the series at Alaska-Anchorage, netted his first collegiate goal in the 6-4 win over Ferris State and then had a five-point weekend in the sweep of Bowling Green to earn NCHC Rookie of the Week for the first time.

McAllister capped the month off with another five-point weekend against No. 4 Michigan, earning NCHC Rookie of the Week for a second time. McAllister has helped fuel WMU's offense, which ranks tied for fourth in the nation at 4.0 goals per game.

McAllister and the Broncos are back in action this weekend, hosting Miami on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. to open NCHC play. Tickets are available at www.wmubroncos.com/tickets.
