Men's Soccer Continues Conference Play at Northern Illinois

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team heads to Illinois for a conference rematch against Northern Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4:30 p.m.

MAKE IT NINE FOR THE BRONCOS
The Broncos improved their record to 9-1 with a 4-0 win over Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, Oct. 5. WMU outshot the Titans 21-6 and earned its seventh shutout this season. Charlie Sharp tallied two goals, wasting no time picking up where he left off after his four-goal performance against Chicago State. Daniel Nimick and Dylan Sing each record a goal, while Jordan Walker added his first career goal in the 79th minute off an assist from Jonathon Robinson. The assist was Robinson's third of the season. 
 
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
NIU's matches this past week included a 4-1 loss to the University of Akron and a 3-1 win against Chicago State University. The Huskies fell short against the Zips after allowing four first-half goals. Northern Illinois then earned a 3-1 road win at Chicago State on Thursday, Oct. 6 with goals from four different Huskie players. The Huskies look for a rematch with the Broncos after a 3-0 loss earlier in the season. NIU is currently 4-4-3, 1-2 in the MAC. Northern Illinois is led in goals by Taisei Arima with three, followed by Angel Rodriguez and Enrique Banuelos with two. Camilo Estrada, Harry Jolley, Parker Jeppson, Patrick Coleman, Taylor Davis, and Diego Maynez have one apiece.

Following their trip to Illinois, the Broncos continue Mid-American Conference play at home against University of Akron (6-2-3, 1-0-1 MAC) on Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
