CLEVELAND – For the second time this season, the Western Michigan duo of
Logan Case and
Maggie King have both earned MAC West Player of the Week awards, the league office announced on Monday. King received her fourth MAC West Offensive Player of the Week award of the season, while Case was selected as the MAC West Setter of the Week for the third time in 2022.
King totaled 37 kills (4.63/set) on a .317 hitting percentage, served up four aces (0.50/set) and had 42.0 points (5.25/set) over the weekend for Western Michigan. The senior also added 25 digs (3.13/set) to pick up her 10th and 11th double-doubles of the season.
On Friday at Ohio, King notched 16 kills, a pair of aces and 11 digs. In Saturday's win at Kent State, she tallied 21 kills on a .370 hitting percentage, two more aces and 14 digs. The Cincinnati native has registered double-digit kills in eight straight matches for the Broncos.
For the season, King leads the MAC in total kills (357) and total points (405.5), and ranks second in the conference in kills/set (3.80), points/set (4.31), service aces (37) and aces/set (0.39). The senior is currently 25th in the nation in total points and 28th in total kills.
Case racked up 108 assists (13.50/set) to fuel a Western Michigan offense which hit .276 over the weekend. In Friday's contest at Ohio, the junior picked up 48 assists and added seven digs for the Broncos. Case then reached the 60-assist mark for the third time this season and helped WMU hit .306 on Saturday in a four-set win at Kent State. The victory moved Western Michigan to 6-0 this season when hitting .300 or better as a team.
The Maineville, Ohio native leads the nation in total assists this season with 1,108. Her average of 11.79 assists per set is currently third-best in the country.
Following a four-match road swing, Western Michigan returns home to University Arena on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, to face Eastern Michigan. Friday's series opener between the Broncos and Eagles is set for 6 pm. Tickets to all home WMU volleyball matches are available at
