CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan football team swept the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week Awards after defeating Miami, 16-10, on Saturday. Junior running back Sean Tyler was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, senior linebacker Corvin Moment was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, and true-freshman kicker Palmer Domschke earned MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Tyler, who earns the award for the second time this season, carried the offensive load for the Broncos on Saturday. He had a season-high 22 carries and a season-high 110 yards on the ground. His 20-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter proved to be the deciding score of the game in the Broncos' victory.
Moment led a dominant performance by the WMU defense in its win at Miami. He had seven tackles and a career-high 3.5 sacks. His 3.5 sacks resulted in 20 yards lost by Miami. Moment was a big factor in holding Miami to just 2-for-13 on third downs and holding them to just 305 yards of total offense.
Domschke hit three crucial field goals in Saturday's victory. He got the Broncos on the board with 3:50 left in the second quarter, connecting on a career-long 52-yard field goal to tie it up at 3-3. He then gave WMU the lead as time expired in the first half on a 46-yard field goal. With a 13-3 lead late in the third quarter, he extended it to 16-3 on a 37-yarder.
The Broncos now shift to #MACtion, heading on the road to take on Bowling Green next Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
