BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Western Michigan golf's
Natalie Samdal and
Alissa Fish both sit in the top 20 after the opening round of the Chippewa Invitational at Birmingham Country Club on Monday.
Samdal paced the Broncos with an 80 (+8) on the day and sits tied for 12th. Samdal is just six shots off the lead and two shots from a top five position. Fish shot an 81 (+9) and sits tied for 18th.
Haley Barclay was WMU's third finisher at 85 (+13), while
Jenna Hayes and
Megha Vallabhaneni each shot an 86 (+14). Barclay had a team-best two birdies on the day, while Samdal and Fish each had eight pars.
The team sits in seventh place after a combined score of 332 (+44). WMU is six shots out of the top five, trailing Toledo and North Carolina A&T.
