Men's Soccer Heads to Oakland, Hosts Wright State on Saturday for Senior Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's soccer team heads to Oakland University on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. kickoff and returns home to the WMU Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 22 to host Wright State University for its Senior Day at 1 p.m.

LAST WEEK 
The Broncos are looking to recover from a 1-0 loss at home to the No. 20 University of Akron on Thursday. Despite ten total shots with five on goal, Western Michigan was unable to find the back of the net. The lone goal came in the 25th minute by Akron's Joel Sangwa with an assist from Jason Shokalook. WMU increased the pressure in the second half outshooting Akron 6-0, but the Zip's defense was able to withstand the Bronco's shots and hold on for the win.

, and Charlie Sharp all tallied two, while Dylan Sing and Matt Lockwood each one. A graduate transfer, Hunter Morse added two saves in the matchup.
 
Western Michigan (9-2-1, 3-1-1) sits second in the Mid-American Conference. WMU in its 2022 season thus far has recorded 28-5 goals and 180-79 shots over its opponents with 83 shots on goal.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIZZLIES & RAIDERS
Oakland University heads into Tuesday's game with a 3-7-3 record on the season. The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a 1-0 win against Wright State University on Saturday. OU gained its edge over WSU in the 54th minute when Ville Aloha netted his second goal of the season. Oakland recorded eight total shots with two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Michael Sly Jr. tallied nine saves. 

 
Oakland University has recorded 8-23 goals and 109-257 shots over its opponents with 40 shots on goal. Oakland is led in points by Dawsun Schrum (7), Ville Ahola (5), Owen Smith (3), Doug Hainer (2), and Reid Sproat (2).   

On to the next, Wright State awaits its road trip to Western Michigan on Saturday with a 4-4-4 record on the season. In its matchup against Oakland, the Raiders tallied 16 shots with nine shots on goal. Goalkeeper Sebastian Jimenez recorded one save. 

 
WSU has recorded 15-16 goals and 176-153 shots over its opponents with 81 shots on goal. Wright State is led in points by Joe Kouadio (8), Reece Allbaugh (7), Nico Likulia (7), Presten Manthey (5), and Conner Osterholt (4).

Prior to the start of Saturday's game, Western Michigan will honor its ten-member senior class of Ethan Brandt, Eric Conerty, Wishy Laurie, Matt Lockwood, Mike Melaragni, Hunter Morse, Daniel Nimick, Dylan Sing, Charlie Sharp, and Jordan Walker. ON THE HORIZON
Next week the Broncos enter the last three games of its regular season, first on the road at Chicago State University on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. before hosting Bowling Green State University at the WMU Soccer Complex for a 4 p.m. game.
