Volleyball Set to Host Toledo for Alumni Weekend

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team continues its four-match homestand this Friday and Saturday as it welcomes Toledo to town for Alumni Weekend. 

The Broncos are set to welcome back alumni from six different decades, and on Friday night will see one of their own, Michelle Moore (2006-09), inducted into the WMU Athletics Hall of Fame.

THE FIRST SERVE
Western Michigan continues its four-match homestand this weekend as it welcomes Toledo to town for Homecoming and Alumni Weekend. Former Bronco outside hitter Michelle Moore (2006-09) will be among those inducted into the WMU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2022. 

LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan is coming off of a split last weekend, picking up a straight-set victory over Miami before falling in five sets to MAC East leader Bowling Green on Saturday at University Arena. 

SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Toledo has been one of the top defensive teams in the MAC this season, owning the lowest opponent hitting percentage in the league at .170. Offensively, UT's Taylor Alt is averaging a conference-high 3.82 kills and 4.40 points per set this season. 

ALL-TIME VS TOLEDO
Western Michigan is 59-16 in its all-time series against the Rockets. The two teams split the two meetings last year in Toledo, with WMU winning one in five, and UT taking the other match in four.

KING'S REIGN CONTINUES
For the third time in the last four weeks, WMU outside hitter Maggie King was named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week. King tallied 41 kills (5.13/set) on a .304 hitting percentage and added 33 digs (4.13/set). Against Bowling Green, she had 22 kills and a career-high 24 digs to become the first Bronco to have a 20+kill, 20+ dig performance since Rachel Bontrager in the semifinals of the Spring 2021 MAC Tournament. 

DYNAMIC DUO
Maggie King and Keona Salesman notched double-digit kills in both of Western Michigan's matches last weekend, including King registering 22 and Salesman adding 21 in Saturday's contest against BGSU. The duo became the first WMU pair to each have 20+ kills in the same match during head coach Colleen Munson's tenure. During MAC play, Salesman leads the conference with 4.04 kills/set, while King ranks third at 3.59/set. 

CONSISTENT CASE
WMU setter Logan Case remained atop the MAC in assists/set at 11.76 (12.07 in league play) which also still has her second nationally in assists/set.
