KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis program opens its spring season hosting Butler and Ferris State in a double-header at West Hills Athletic Club on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. against the BU and at 3 p.m. against FSU.
Admission is free but fans are required to wear masks inside of West Hills Athletic Club. Live stats will also be available at www.wmu.statbroadcast.com.
WMU competed in five different fall tournaments with its individual student-athletes posting a combined singles record of 64-52. Despite missing the first two tournaments, freshman Anton Arzhankin had the best singles record, going 9-1. Sophomore Brogan Pierce had the most wins with a 10-4 record.
In doubles action, head coach Dave Morin used 15 different combinations in the fall, posting a total record of 24-22. The duos of Joaquin Caballer and Benjamin George, along with George and Pierce saw the most action together at six matches. Pierce and George posted the most wins, going 4-2.
Saturday is just one of two non-conference home dates this spring for the Broncos, who also welcome Michigan State on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. Mid-American Conference action kicks off on Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m. when the Broncos host the Ball State Cardinals.
Western Michigan will also host the 2022 MAC Tournament, April 23-24.
