KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan volleyball team continues its three-match homestand on Friday and Saturday as it hosts Central Michigan at University Arena. The Broncos and Chippewas are set to meet on Friday at 6 pm and on Saturday at 3 pm. Tickets are available at

THE HOMESTAND CONTINUES
After opening up its homestand with a 3-1 win over NIU on Tuesday, WMU welcomes Central Michigan to University Arena this Friday and Saturday. Western Michigan enters the weekend 3-0 in MAC play for the first time since 2017, when the Broncos started 4-0 in league play. WMU hasn't started 5-0 in conference play since starting 6-0 in 2009. That season, the Broncos went 13-3 in league play and won the West Division.
LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan moved to 3-0 in MAC play with a four-set victory over Northern Illinois on Tuesday.
Julia Marr tallied a career-high 18 kills on a .516 hitting percentage to pace the Broncos' attack, while
Logan Case (46 assists, 12 digs) and
Andelyn Simkins (11 kills, 11 digs) each recorded double-doubles in the four-set victory.
SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan began MAC play with a split of its series against Northern Illinois last weekend in Mount Pleasant. CMU leads the conference in digs/set at 19.71, nearly three digs higher than the next highest team (Bowling Green, 16.95/set). As a result, Central Michigan has held its opponents to a .180 hitting percentage, the lowest in the MAC.
SERIES WITH CMU
WMU leads the all-time series against Central Michigan, 59-42. Western Michigan won both of the meetings between the two rivals during the 2021 spring season in four sets.
WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS
For the second straight week,
Logan Case and
Maggie King earned MAC West Player of the Week honors, the league office announced on Monday. Case won her second straight Setter of the Week, her third overall this season, while King collected her second Offensive Player of the Week in a row. Case handed out 92 assists (13.14/set) and had a pair of double-doubles, while King averaged 5.71 kills/set and hit .345 against Eastern Michigan.
LEAGUE LEADERS
Logan Case and
Maggie King each enter the weekend atop the MAC leaderboards. Case paces the league, and ranks fourth nationally, in assists/set at 11.51. King leads the MAC in kills/set at 3.84.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Logan Case registered yet another double-double on Tuesday against NIU, giving her double-doubles in five straight matches. The sophomore leads Western Michigan with nine so far this season.
ON THE HORIZON
Following the series against CMU, Western Michigan hits the road for its next four matches, starting next Friday, Oct. 8, at Miami. First serve against the Redhawks is set for 7 pm.
