Women's Soccer Heads to EMU Before Hosting CMU on Sunday

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team prepares for two games against its state rivals this week, traveling to Eastern Michigan on Thursday before hosting Central Michigan on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Broncos vs. Eagles is set for 4 p.m. No stream is available for the game but live stats can be viewed here. For those that can't make it out to the WMU Soccer Complex on Sunday, the game against the Chippewas will be streamed at www.wmubroncos.com/watch.

LAST WEEK
WMU opened Mid-American Conference play with a pair of 2-0 losses. The Broncos hosted the defending MAC Champions Bowling Green last Thursday and then went on the road to fall at Toledo. Western Michigan has now dropped its last five matches, being shutout in four straight.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan enters Thursday with a 1-6-2 record and opened MAC play with a 0-0 tie at Ball State and a 2-1 loss at home to Miami.

Six different Eagles have each scored a goal this season, with no one scoring more than one. Amanda Cripps has a team-high three points, having an assist to go with her goal. Lindsey Shira leads the team with two assists.

Chelsea Abbotts and Rebecca Przybylo have both seen action between the sticks for EMU. Abbotts has started in six games, posting a 1-3-2 record, making 35 saves and posting one shutout.

SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan is 3-5-0 and hosts Northern Illinois on Thursday before heading to Kalamazoo on Sunday. CMU opened MAC play with a 1-0 overtime loss at Miami and a 2-1 loss at home to Ball State.

Gaelle Wells has a team-high three goals on the season, scoring on just eight total shots. Two of her goals have gone for game-winners this season. Jaelyn Dobrowolski is second on the team with five points on a goal and team-best three assists. Three other Chippewas have scored single goals this season.

Sophomore Allison LaPoint has played every second in goal this season for Central Michigan. She has posted a 3-5-0 record with three shutouts and 38 total saves, while allowing just nine total goals this season.

ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan is on the road at Ohio next Thursday before hosting Kent State next Sunday at 2 p.m. Sunday's game will be carried live on ESPN+.
