SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team wrapped up the Bobby Bayliss Invitational at the University of Notre Dame with 10 more wins spread out over Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday it was Fynn Lohse, Joaquin Caballer, and Arjun Honnappa picking up victories. Lohse continued the good start to his season by beating Cleveland State's Mikael Erler in a tight 2-0 match, 7-5, 7-5. Caballer beat Marquette's Jan Jauch 2-0 (6-0, 6-2), while Honnappa defeated Michigan State's Jack Winkler 7-6 (4), 6-3.
The Broncos started off Sunday's action with a doubles win by Peter Kuszynski and Ferdinand Schluter over Marquette's Khalafallah and Tennison 6-4. In singles play Kuszynski picked up a win, 2-1 (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 [7]), over Notre Dame's Matt Che. Sophomore Ben George defeated Northwestern's Gleb Blekher 2-1 (1-6, 6-1, 1-0 [5]). Jackson Boone took down Wisconsin's Mihailo Popovic 2-1 (5-7, 6-3, 1-0 [7]) and Brogan Pierce notched a win over DePaul's Leon Huck 2-1 (4-6, 6-4, 1-0 [4]). Honnappa and Caballer were also both winners in singles on Sunday. Honnappa took down Michigan State's Nick Williams 2-0 (6-2, 6-1) and Caballer defeated DePaul's Sven Moser 2-0 (6-1, 6-3).
WMU takes a week off before hosting the annual Vredevelt Invitational on Oct. 9-10.
