CLEVELAND – Western Michigan women's soccer sophomore forward Jenna Blackburn has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performances against Louisville and Detroit Mercy last week.
Blackburn netted three total goals in the two games to help the Broncos split the season-opening weekend.
Against the Cardinals she cut WMU's deficit to 2-1 after her first collegiate goal. She later cut the deficit in half again with her second goal of the game, bringing the Broncos within two, 4-2. In Sunday's win she was a part of a flurry of goals early in the second half that put the game out of reach. She pushed Western Michigan's lead to 3-1 in the eventual 5-1 victory.
Blackburn and the Broncos are back in action this week at the University of Michigan on Thursday night at 7 p.m. before returning to Kalamazoo to host IUPUI on Sunday at 1 p.m.
