CLEVELAND -- The Western Michigan softball program placed 11 student-athletes on the 2021 Academic All-MAC softball team, announced by the league on Tuesday, June 22.
The 11 selections for
Kathy Leitke's squad match the most selections for WMU since the current process was adopted in 2014. The 11 Broncos on the list trailed only Ball State (13), Toledo (13) and Bowling Green (12). A total of 116 student-athletes qualified for the honor across the league this season.
To be selected Academic All-MAC, a player must appear in 50-percent of its team's games played during the season and maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the most recent semester. Players must be in their second academic year at their respective institution to be eligible (true freshmen and first-year transfers do not qualify).
