CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan women's soccer team had 12 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Mary Claire Burnett (3.86, nursing),
Jorden Campbell (3.71, digital media and journalism),
Emily Dahl (3.65, occupational therapy),
Bailey Korhorn (3.91, accountancy),
Morgan Otteson (3.78, accountancy),
Hannah Redoute (3.44, accountancy),
Maggie Rogers (3.44, sport management),
Hannah Sargent (3.93, aerospace engineering),
Claudia Schilling (3.83, accountancy),
Suzuna Shibukawa (3.34, business),
Kai Sugiyama (3.89, biomedical sciences) and
Reagan Wisser (3.96, nursing) all earned the honors for the Broncos.
Burnett, Campbell, Shibukawa and Wisser earned spots on the team for the first time in their careers. Dahl, Korhorn, Otteson, Redoute, Rogers, Sargent, Schilling and Sugiyama are all repeat honorees.
WMU was tied for fourth-most student-athletes in the league with Eastern Michigan.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
