Ronnie Attard Named CCM/AHCA West First Team All-American

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan sophomore defenseman Ronnie Attard has been named a CCM/American Hockey Coaches Association West First Team All-American.
 
The CCM Hockey All-American Ice Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. CCM is the legendary hockey brand dedicated to the endless pursuit of performance by delivering game-changing, head-to-toe innovative hockey equipment to players worldwide.
 
Attard led all defenseman in scoring in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference with 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists, also finishing the regular season tied for second nationally in points by a defenseman. He was second on the team scoring and his eight goals were tied for second-most on the team. The White Lake, Mich., native went on to become the first defenseman in program history to earn First Team All-NCHC honors and was named the NCHC Best Offensive Defenseman.
 
Attard becomes the 12th Bronco to earn All-American honors and the 16th time a Bronco has been named an All-American. He is only the fourth WMU player to be named to the First Team. Attard also joins Doug Reed, Neil Smith, Wayne Gagne, and Danny DeKeyser as WMU defenseman to earn the honors.
 
This is the fourth All-American selection under head coach Andy Murray and the first time WMU has had back-to-back First Team selections since Gagne was selected during the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons.
